On December 11, the Volyn Regional Development Agency signed a grant agreement with the Swiss-Ukrainian project “Ukraine’s Cohesion and Regional Development”, UCORD, which is implemented with the support of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation by NIRAS Sweden AB. The partnership with UCORD enshrined in the agreement will enable the agency to receive support for its institutional growth and transformation into a confident and capable institution that will become a driver of development in its region.

UCORD Project Leader Marina Bryl commented on the event:

“Today, the Volyn Regional Development Agency signed a grant agreement, according to which it receives two-year financial support from the UCORD project. This agreement opens up excellent prospects for the development and strengthening of the RDA, which, in turn, will contribute to the effective implementation of regional development reform in the Volyn region, which is especially important in the context of European integration processes”.

According to the grant agreement, the Volyn Oblast Regional Development Agency will focus its work in the following areas:

  1. Working-out of strategic and program documents for the effective functioning of the RDA, implementation of services and tools to improve its work.
  2. Development of the team’s potential and qualifications, as well as strengthening the RDA’s sustainability.
  3. Promoting the activities of the Volyn Regional Development Agency by establishing constant communication with the public and key stakeholders.
  4. Establishing cooperation and communication between other RDAs, associations and public unions in order to expand partnerships.
  5. Support regional authorities, local governments and regional communities in creating, improving and supplementing regional recovery strategies/plans and creating effective management and planning projects.
  6. Promoting international cooperation for the development of the region, local governments and municipal institutions, attracting additional funding and providing advisory support.
  7. Support to the Volyn Regional State Administration for updating the Solid Waste Management Plan.
  8. Assistance in increasing the investment attractiveness of the Volyn, in particular, strengthening grant and project activities in the region.
  9. Promoting intermunicipal and inter-sectoral partnerships and cluster development in the Volyn region.
  10. Development and popularization of culture, cultural heritage, creative industries, expansion of the tourism potential of local territories in cooperation and at the initiative of communities.
  11. Supporting the development of the healthcare sector through increased international, project, and grant activities.
